Project Appraisal Experience Of Team Members

Project Appraisal Consultants [PAC] team members have done a number of cost Benefit analysis, stakeholders’ analysis and risk analysis of a host of projects relating to social, infrastructure and industrial sectors from all over the world, including India. The project / Investment / Programme appraisal includes the followings.

  • Financial Appraisal from perspectives of Equity holders, Lenders, Economy and Budget.
  • Economic Appraisal from perspectives of Equity holders, Lenders, Economy and Budget.
  • Scenario Analysis from perspectives of Equity holders, Lenders, Economy and Budget.
  • Scale / Incremental Analysis to identify optimal size of Project / Investment / Programme.
  • Distributive Appraisal.
  • Sensitivity Analysis to identify Sensitive / Risk variables.
  • Assigning probability distribution to Risk variables
  • Quantitative Risk Analysis by Monte Carlo Simulation of Project / programme outputs like NPV, IRR, BC Ratio.
  • Risk Management by use Monte Carlo simulation results and identifying strong and weak issues for contracts for each stakeholder.

Since 1990, PAC team members have scrutinized the appraisal of more than 100 projects, at decision making levels, from different sectors such as Power Generation Projects [Hydro, Coal based and Gas based], Power Transmission Projects, Irrigation Projects, Multipurpose projects, Flood Control Projects, Water Supply schemes, Railway projects, Petroleum Exploration, Refinery projects, Natural Gas projects, Road Sector Projects, Industrial projects, Food Parks etc., of States and at the National Levels.

Projects appraised by PAC Team members are as follows.

  1. Cost-Effectiveness Analysis of Aflatoxins Contamination of Groundnuts and Maize Value Chains in Malawi. This was done for USAID Mission, Malawi in 2016
  2. Cost-Benefit and Risk Analysis of "Options for USAID Feed the Future Planned Irrigation Investment in the Kilombero Valley". This was completed for USAID Mission, Tanzania in 2014
  3. Cost-Benefit and Risk Analysis of "USAID Feed the Future Agriculture Value Chains in Nepal". This was completed for USAID Mission, Nepal 2012
  4. Cost-Benefit, Stakeholders and Risk Analysis review of infrastructure and industrial projects sponsored by the private sector window of African Development Bank (AfRD). The review included ports, airports, hydropower projects, water supply schemes, PPP SPV toll roads and mining projects from 2009 to 2011
  5. Cost-Benefit and Risk Analysis of "Zangerzur Copper-Molybdenum and Donogold Mining Companies in Kapan, Armenia. This was completed for the World Bank Mission, Armenia in 2008
  6. Cost-Benefit and Risk Analysis of "Integrated Co-generation IPP Power Purchased Agreement: The Jindal Tractable Project in India". This was completed for the World Bank together with Glenn P. Jenkins of Harvard Institute for International Development in 1997
  7. Cost-Benefit and Risk Analysis of "Chukha-Hydel Project in Bhutan". This assignment was complement in partial fulfillment of PhD Dissertation at Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Colorado, USA. 1990
